1. Propagation Station

With a plant propagation station, plant owners can easily grow their botanical family even bigger! They can just take some cuttings off a plant they already own and throw them into this propagation station. Plant cuttings can survive on just water, all the while growing their root system to become full-grown plants.

There’s just something about watching your plants grow from the early stages of sprouting roots. To see them growing into a sturdy plant over time is incredibly satisfying.

Lots of plant lovers regularly propagate their plants. And some of us even buy plant cuttings online so we can grow new species fairly cheaply.

And yes, you could just take a plain glass bottle and that will do fine. But these will look way cuter as a home decoration piece than just a regular glass bottle.

If you like a more personal gift; I also found a propagation set with a cute quote on it that is not cringe. If they can use a little extra support, this gift might relieve some of their tension.

2. A plant cutting of a (rare) plant

You could also gift them a new plant cutting to go with the propagation station! Every plant lover enjoys collecting new plant species. I keep a list of many plants I would like to own one day. Most of them are plants that are a bit more on the rare side. And these species aren’t typically found in your local plant nursery.

That’s why every plant lover will look at you with disbelief if you would gift them a rare plant cutting.

The beauty of gifting them a plant cutting is that you will have taken the cutting under your care before gifting it. This makes gifting a rare plant cutting a more personal gift, as both of you will take care of this baby before it is put into soil!

You don’t even need to have a green thumb for this yourself. You will just need to put the cutting in water directly after receiving it.  The plant is usually wrapped in a damp cloth or damp toilet paper upon shipping. This is because the roots won’t dry out.

On the day you will gift their plant cutting, all you need to do is wrap the roots into some damp toilet paper and you’re good to go.

3. Plantopedia

The definitive guide for houseplants: the subtitle of the book reveals it all. This book is a staple for everyone who is obsessed with plants. All your person’s plant buddies will be in there, as it covers more than 130 different plant species. That’s right, 130 species! (I don’t think I even know that many species myself yet).

That means that, besides your common houseplants, the more rare plant species are also covered in this book. I can assure you that all the plants that they own are covered, so that’s a great perk.

However, the true beauty of this book is found in its practicality. It provides the plant lover with loads of tips and tricks on how to take care of any plant. It’s not just a gifted book. It’s an “incredibly useful for years to come” type of gifted book.

Ultimately, the mission of a plant owner is just to keep their precious plants alive. This bundle of valuable information will help their plants thrive. Therefore this is by far my favorite pick if I would have to gift something to a plant lover.

4. Herb Growing Kit

Does your plant-loving special person also enjoy cooking or is keen on living a non-toxic lifestyle? Then a herb-growing kit is going to be super welcome, I can assure you that! This herb kit allows them the joy of growing their own fresh, aromatic herbs right at home.

This kit includes a total of 9 burlap pots including 9 different types of herb seeds, including dill, basil, chives, thyme, parsley, oregano, cilantro, sage, and mustard. This, together with the fertilized soil tablets, will get them started on the best foot.

From the bold basil leaves to make a homemade pesto, to the soothing, musky scent of sage to make their home a sanctuary. This herb kit includes all of the basic herbs perfect for starting your herb collection at home.

5. Plant mom shirt

What better way to support someone with a Green Thumb than to have them bask in their love for plants? Have them express their passion through their apparel. Plant Shirts are the new Band Shirts. And besides, they’re a better conversation starter than band shirts anyway.

It’s a subtle way to be reminded of the importance of nature and spread the love for their green buddies even further.  This makes this gift suitable for anyone who loves greenery.

6. Planters

If you want to play it safe, sticking to a planter is always a really good idea. Us plant lovers will usually take advantage of any good reason to buy a new plant. And what better reason than to find the perfect species to suit the planter that we got as a gift?

Now obviously I could list any type of planter that might look trendy, but both you and I won’t ever know exactly what they would have bought for themselves. So I would say it is hard to buy a planter for somebody else.

However, I’ve found some gems on the internet that I just have to share. They are more on the unusual side and therefore way more personal. So I assume you will know for yourself if they would love these!

7. Plant care tracker

Some of us love the vibrancy and liveliness that plants add to our space and lives. Keeping them healthy and luscious is something we therefore value dearly.

However, chaotic as we usually are, life just sometimes gets in the way. That makes taking care of ALL of our plants challenging from time to time.

When that is the case, I like to rely on a plant tracker. This to make sure that my plants aren’t neglected too much while my scattered brain is busy focusing on life. With a plant tracker, we can prevent plants from dying and optimize their conditions, which is ultimately what we strive for.

I mean, yes, we can water them once a week and they’ll “survive”. But for them to really thrive,  it’s important to attune to a plant’s specific needs.

Most of them have different requirements for how much water they need, what temperature and humidity levels they like, the amount of light they need, what type of soil they prefer, and then some. It’s a lot more than just simply watering your plants once a week if you’re taking plant care seriously!

This can be hard to keep track of because after a while you will own so many plants that you don’t know when you’ve last watered them, or how much water they need again in the first place. Plant trackers can therefore be super helpful when someone owns a lot of different types of plants.

I hope this gift guide has given you some inspiration, so that you know exactly what to buy, and can give your gift with the confidence that they will love what you got for them! I wish you joy in gifting your handpicked presents to your loved ones. Save this blog post for later if you’re the type of person who saves gift ideas for your friends’ upcoming birthdays!
